Harike Lake-Bird Count
The Harike Lake is a reservoir created bythe construction of a barrrage at Harike in 1952 , at the confluence of the Satluj and Bias rivers.It was designated as a Ramsar site on account of its importance as habitat for large number and diversity of waterfowl. The lake is an important staging and wintering area for migratory waterfowl.

Chandigarh ’ The City Beautiful’ has more than 300 bird species . Sukhna Lake , its catchment area and Sukhna Wild Life Sanctuary , provides a well maintained habitat to resident as well as migratory birds, besides Mirzapur Dam in the North West , only half an hour drive from Chandigarh and Berwala on way to Morni Hills are really havens for the bird watchers.
Mandna near Morni hills (16-18 km fromPanchkula) is another nice area for Birding.

Lassen Volcanic National Park lies at the southern extremity of the volcanic Cascade Mountain range,and north of Sierra Nevada.To the east of the park spreads the high desert plateau of the Great Basin.Here in Lassen one typically finds birds characteristic of all three regions. Ulistac Natural Area is well maintaned habitation for different kind of birds ..scrubs,bushes ,tall trees,marshes and deer grass. It is a wonderful experience of watching birds in this area in their natural habitat. Tiny humminfg bird to Red- shouldered Hawk,flocks of House Finches,American Gold finch,Lesser Gold Finch, Northern Oriole and of course the Mocking Bird adding melody to the nature’s symphony.
